First one falls! GWS get their man

2nd August 2011 Category: General

Adelaide Crows defender Phil Davis informed the Crows playing group this morning that he'll be playing with GWS in 2012. For the Crows, it's the 2nd centre half back in as many years to jump ship. Last year it was Nathan Bock, this year it's Phil Davis.

Davis is the first of 5 players - reportedly targeted by GWS - to sign with the new franchise.

Davis has been injured for much of the season and even before today’s announcement wasn’t expected to play again for the Crows this season.

Any announcement from remaining targets; Mitch Clark, Callan Ward and Tom Scully would be more difficult at this point of the season, being that they’re still available for selection with their respective teams.

Fremantle midfielder Rhys Palmer, however, could be the next to move following his season ending ankle injury - suffered at the weekend.
